BRIEF:

MAZING is a playful physical space, that inspires and encourages children to play and create. It stimulates childrens critical thinking and problem solving skills through challenges in an iterative process. In the play children get to explore e.g. the laws of physics, different material behaviour and collaboration through a hands-on minds-on approach to play.
Build with the pre-made and supplied materials or use the MAZING workshop to experiment with materials and create your own elements or contraptions.

MAZING was developed in collaboration with children, as Co-creators.
The concept consists of two parts: A physical space with pre-made elements and a workshop/take-home experience kit.

THE PLAYFUL SPACE:

The physical space was developed to fit into the framework and needs for Nicolai for Børn – A unique cultural institution for children, located in Kolding. MAZING is build to be dynamic as it accommodates both a 'fast-play-entry' where the pre-made elements is key, but also providing a scene of play where the children are challenged in creating their own elements and contraptions.
The space can be experienced at Nicolai for Børn, where the room will be challenging children throughout the summer.
THE WORKSHOP/TAKE-HOME EXPERIENCE KIT:

The concept behind making a smaller experience kit was to expand the MAZING experience so it would not be 'over' when leaving the physical space. The experience kit were therefore designed to be cheap to produce, yet still keeping it appealing and true to the MAZING concept.
The experience kit only provides the children with the bare needs and they will be encouraged to start thinking about creative use of materials in their surroundings and how to attatch it to the pegboard.
